This comprehensive training will equip you with essential skills to navigate and mitigate security risks in challenging environments. The course is divided into three modules:
Module 1: Personal Security Basics
Participants will learn foundational principles of personal security, including self-awareness, stress management, and contextual risk factors. Lessons cover individual security management, travel preparation, and strategies for assessing personal risk exposure.Module 2: Risk Assessment and Security Risk Management
This module delves into conducting security risk assessments, understanding adversaries and allies, and planning for safe missions and travel. Participants gain insights into residence and office security, working with vulnerable sources, and safeguarding sensitive information.Module 3: Specific Threats and Incident Response
Focused on real-world scenarios, this module addresses managing personal incidents, extortion, forced disappearances, and kidnapping. It also covers responses to natural disasters and the creation of robust contingency plans.
By the end of the training, participants will be equipped with practical tools and strategies to enhance their safety and resilience, enabling them to operate effectively in high-risk environments.

(EN) This course explores the dynamics of criminal markets with a focus on cattle rustling in West Africa, an issue that has transformed from a traditional practice into a destructive force driving instability in the region. Through a multidisciplinary approach, participants will gain a deep understanding of the five key lenses used to analyze illicit markets—price, market entry, legitimacy, protection, and violence—and how these concepts can guide effective development responses and interventions.
Participants will delve into the actors, supply chains, and socio-economic factors shaping cattle rustling in West Africa, with a focus on Mali and Nigeria. By examining its impact on local and regional stability, the course highlights the intersection of organized crime and conflict economies. Practical tools and case studies will equip learners to identify actionable solutions to mitigate the effects of cattle rustling and similar criminal activities.
Les participants se pencheront sur les acteurs, les chaînes d'approvisionnement et les facteurs socio-économiques qui façonnent le vol de bétail en Afrique de l'Ouest, en particulier au Mali et au Nigeria.
